TREASURE IN JUGS OF MUD

IN THAT ANCIENT WORLD it was very common to keep expensive, valuable treasure in worthless, unattractive clay jars. What Paul has in mind for us to see the contrast in an incongruity. We have a treasure in a ceramic pot, a clay jar. The great reality is that we do have a treasure - the gospel of Christ.

Have you ever said, β€œI am too weak for God to use me”? Consider the possibility that you are not too weak enough for God to use you. When we pretend we are something more that clay jars, then God can never make His strengths conspicuous in us. God conquers in those lives that know all too well they are nothing but clay jars with a treasure inside.

for by the grace of given to me I say to everyone amoung you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
