CONTACT CONNECTION
WITH TWO KIND OF INDIVIDUALS, God either uses the saw or the pruning shears. In this passage Jesus talks about those withered branches the vinedresser takes away and throws into the fire. The warning here is that we may be in contact with the life of Christ in religiosity but not in true connection with Him. The Father takes away such fruitless branches with a saw.
In wintertime the vinedresser removes some shoots with pruning shears to make other shoots more fruitful. God is the vinedresser who prunes away our prideful shoots so that we might be more fruitful. Often we make an idol of our spiritual feelings instead of worshipping Him. Yet He will strip away our spiritual pride until we are left with Him alone.
