CAN WE CHANGE
NAAMAN FACED A SITUATION beyond human help. Even though he was a mighty man of valor in a great empire, he had one thing no emperor could help him with - leprosy. How often even the competent, strong, affluent, educated, and successful wrestle with something that is beyond all of their vaunted human effort. God uses an unlikely process, washing seven times in the lowly Jordan, to heal him.
In our hearts we have demons that we cannot defeat on our own. But like arrogant Naaman, many of us think we know better than God’s way to change - though our education, credentials, positions, prominence, and achievement. Nevertheless, God commands us to go wash in the blood of the Cavalry, the most repellent thing for the self-confident individual.
