PUT UP THE NEW YEAR’S TREE
EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT putting up Christmas trees, but no one has ever set out a New Year’s tree. For those of us making a fresh start in life, we don’t have to wait until January 1st of the next year to plant a sturdy tree that has its roots in the soil of Psalm 1. It involves establishing our lives by a source that will sustain us for all of our years on earth - and eternity.
When you fly over west Texas and look at the desert, you can always tell where the rivers flow. Trees on their banks are growing strong and tall. In the same way, God wants us to plant the tress of our lives by His life-giving waters that continually sustain us.
