ON THE TIPPING POINT
THERE WOULD BE NO HIGH MOUNTAINS like Everest and K-2 without valleys. Abraham and Jacob represent titanic mountain peaks in the history of Jehovah’s dealings with His people. Isaac, on the other hand, is like a valley between two mountain peaks, representing the obedient and submissive qualities of the equitable trust in God.
And yet, Isaac seemed to live on the tipping point between faithfulness and failure. He did have the spiritual sense to re-dig the wells his father Abraham dug. On the other hand, just like his father, he defensively lied to the Pharaoh about his wife. Today, we can choose which legacy of our family members to follow in our own lives - whether to renew their past faithfulness or reflect their past failures.
